Steve Kerns, owner of Kerns Farms, knows pork! Steve studied Animal Science at Iowa State University, majoring in swine genetics and meat science. After his education at ISU, Steve had the opportunity to see the diversity of the American swine gene pool and meet the leaders and future leaders of the swine industry through his involvement in International Livestock Improvement Services Incorporated. Kerns Farms has been in the swine business since 1966. Since 2010, Kerns Farms has been focused on acquiring and producing the finest genetics of Berkshire and Mangalitsa breed hogs. Both breeds are known for their bright red meat and rich marbling. At Old Station Craft Meats, we appreciate the pork industry insights from Steve and also the quality of his pork program.
